Earth Element Crystals

The stones assigned to earth in the five-element scheme this site follows.

Earth stones anchor. They are the grounders and the protectors, the dense and often dark minerals used to put a floor under a day, hold a boundary, or keep a person in their body when their head has run ahead of them. They are the least dramatic group and the most consistently recommended, and they pair well with almost everything.

⚠️ Malachite is a toxic mineral. Keep it dry and polished, wash your hands after handling raw pieces, and never make a gem elixir from it. Full care verdicts →

Dalmatian Jasper

Feldspar rock

Cream with black spots, the stone people buy for children and for their own sense of humour.

Worth knowing: Dalmatian jasper is not a jasper. It is a feldspar-rich igneous rock, and the black spots are usually arfvedsonite rather than tourmaline.

Jade

Jadeite / Nephrite

Carved for four thousand years in China and in Mesoamerica as the stone of a well-lived life.

Worth knowing: Jade is two different minerals: jadeite and nephrite. Both are genuine jade. Serpentine, aventurine and dyed quartz are frequently sold as jade and are not.

Moss Agate

Quartz (chalcedony)

Clear chalcedony with green mineral growth inside that looks like moss. The gardener's stone.

Worth knowing: The green is not plant matter. It is chlorite or hornblende that grew in dendritic, plant-like shapes.

How the elements are used together

The elements are a balancing scheme rather than a ranking. The traditional advice is to pair rather than to stack: an air stone with an earth stone so that clear thinking has somewhere to land, a fire stone with a grounder so that drive does not become agitation. Two intense stones of the same element together are read as too much of one thing. The pairing checker applies that rule to any two or three stones you name.

Fact and tradition, kept apart

The mineral family, the Mohs hardness and the water verdict on each card are checkable physical fact, drawn from standard mineralogical and gemmological references. The chakra, element and purpose associations are tradition, published across the modern crystal-healing literature and offered here for reflection rather than as fact. Nothing on this page is medical advice. Browse the full database →
