Is the card random?
No, and that is deliberate. The card is worked out from the date with plain arithmetic: one fixed deck order, dealt with a fixed step, one card a day. Because 17 shares no factor with 44, the sequence lands on every card exactly once in any 22 days and gives each of them one upright and one reversed turn in any 44. Refreshing will not change your card, and nothing about your browser, your device or your question feeds into it.
Can I see tomorrow's card, or yesterday's?
Yes — both are on this page, along with the next two weeks and a date box that will show you the card for any day you name, past or future. A page that draws at random cannot do that, which is the practical difference between a rotation and a shuffle.
What does it mean when a tarot card is reversed?
Reversed here means the same current turned inward, blocked, or overplayed — not the opposite card, and not bad news. That is one of two positions readers take; the other reads a reversal as the card's opposite. Both are in circulation and neither is the official one, so this page names the stance it uses instead of presenting it as the rule.
Do I have to use reversals at all?
No. Plenty of experienced readers work upright-only and always have. Waite gives a reversed meaning for every card in The Pictorial Key to the Tarot (1911), so the practice is old, but it has never been compulsory. Both readings for the day's card are on this page, so you can simply read the upright one.
What time does the card change?
At midnight UTC — 1am in Berlin, 8pm the previous evening in New York, 5pm in Los Angeles, 5.30am in Delhi. One instant for everyone, which is what makes the card shareable.
Why does another site give me a different card today?
Because almost every other card-of-the-day page picks at random, per page load. There is no shared answer to compare against — theirs changes if you refresh. This one is a published sequence, so two people on the same date always agree.
Is this the same as my tarot birth card?
No. Your birth card comes from your date of birth and does not change; today's card comes from today's date and changes daily. They use the same 22 Major Arcana and the same readings underneath, and the birth-card calculator works yours out from your birthday.
Can I ask it a question?
Not honestly, no. This is a calendar, not a reading — the card was decided by the date long before you arrived, so it cannot answer anything you brought with you. What a daily card is genuinely good for is attention: one image and one question, the same for everyone, every day. If you want a card drawn for a question, shuffle a real deck.
