Creativity sits at the sacral centre, and its stones are the warm oranges plus a couple of wild cards. The tradition is consistent that these are stones for starting rather than for finishing: carnelian is described everywhere as the stone for the person who keeps almost beginning. Cherry Quartz
Glass
Pink-red and cloudy, used for lifting the mood of a heart that has gone flat.
Worth knowing: Cherry quartz is manufactured glass, not a natural quartz variety. It is still popular, but it is not a mineral.
Citrine
Quartz · Mohs 7
Warm yellow quartz tied to money and nerve, and the most commonly treated stone in the trade.
Worth knowing: Most commercial citrine is amethyst that has been heat-treated to turn yellow. Natural citrine is paler and much rarer.

Opal

Iridescent and famously changeable, said to amplify whatever mood you already brought.
Worth knowing: Opal is a hydrated silica gel rather than a crystal, and it can craze and crack if it dries out.

How to actually use them
Tradition is more specific about method than most articles let on. Grounding and protection stones are held or placed rather than worn. Sleep stones go on the nightstand, not under the pillow where they get lost. Throat stones are worn at the neck. Money stones go where the money is handled. Pick one rather than a handful: the consistent instruction across the literature is that a single stone with a stated intention beats a pocketful without one.
